James 4:13-15 – 13 Now listen to me, you that say, “Today or tomorrow we will travel to a certain city, where we will stay a year and go into business and make a lot of money.” 14 You don’t even know what your life tomorrow will be! You are like a puff of smoke, which appears for a moment and then disappears. 15 What you should say is this: “If the Lord is willing, we will live and do this or that.”
I thought of this scripture today when I heard the tragic news that Dolly Parton had passed away. Not that she was a boastful business shark, but I had heard last night that she had talked about her plans to make music for years to come. She had her plans, but the Lord had His.
The good news is that I have read that she was a Christian, so that means she will have an eternal home with the Lord in Heaven. Perhaps she and I can walk through Heaven someday and talk about music and the heroine she was in our great state of Tennessee.
She was definitely loved, respected, and admired by many throughout the world, but especially here in Tennessee. Many of us have visited her theme park, Dollywood, and enjoyed what she had built there.
The whole point of this brief article is to say that we don’t know how much time we have left on this earth, so we need to make sure we are good with the Lord. So, how about you? Have you accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior? You may not get another chance. This could very well be your last call. Think about it.
