Do you sometimes feel like God is disappointed in you? Have you done so many ungodly things that you can’t imagine God ever accepting you again?
If so, I can relate. I did a lot of ungodly things back in the day when drugs and alcohol dominated me. I said things I shouldn’t have said, did things I shouldn’t have done, with people I shouldn’t have had anything to do with.
I’ve seen things that most people would be shocked by, and I’ve had experiences that would put most people in an insane asylum. There has been a lot of drama and a huge amount of trauma.
I’ve been hurt physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I have mental and emotional scars that will probably never heal, but God has brought me through it all.
I’m surprised I lived to see thirty, but here I am at 71 years of age and still going. Maybe not as strong as before, but I’m still here.
Someone told me earlier today that she thought I was in my thirties or forties, and that really surprised me. I am used to people telling me I look younger than I am, but I never expected anyone to think I look that young.
So why am I still here? I wonder about that a lot. After everything I’ve been through, everything I’ve done, and all the times I could have died, the fact that I’m still here means something to me.
I would rather be in heaven, but since I am still here, I suppose my job here on earth isn’t finished. God apparently still has me here for a purpose.
Actually, that is quite an honor. To think that God still uses me amazes me. After all my failures, screw-ups, crazy adventures, and everything I’ve been through, He still sees something in me that can be used for His purpose.
I don’t understand it, but I’m grateful for it.
And if God can still use someone like me, He can still use you.
All I can say is, “Thank you, Lord.”
