One of the unexpected blessings of Last Call Outreach Ministry has been making contact with Christians in other parts of the world who are faithfully serving Christ in circumstances very different from my own.
Recently, I was contacted by Pastor Eliud Wekesa, who ministers with Bible Way Church in Kitale, Kenya. Pastor Eliud is involved in discipleship and evangelism, particularly among people and communities that are less reached by the Gospel.
Pastor Eliud and those working with him have also recently planted a new church in the Chrmichemi community near Kitale. This is a developing work, and the church is seeking to reach people in the surrounding community with the message of Jesus Christ.
Pastor Eliud has explained that their ministry is independent and does not currently have a ministry organization partnering with them in this work. He has expressed his desire to see the ministry reach more people and has welcomed the possibility of Christian partners coming alongside them.
What especially encouraged me was Pastor Eliud’s interest in using the teaching of Last Call Outreach Ministry. He told me that he would like to share my Bible teachings in his church and with people they visit through their outreach ministry. He also expressed an interest in using printed copies of the teachings.
That is important to me because Last Call Outreach Ministry was never intended simply to be a website or a YouTube channel. My desire is to take the teaching of Scripture wherever God opens a door.
A person does not necessarily need a large church building, a sophisticated ministry organization, or expensive equipment to share the Gospel. Sometimes it begins with one pastor, one congregation, one Bible lesson, and one person willing to carry that message to someone else.
Pastor Eliud’s ministry is an example of that kind of work.
The church plant in Chrmichemi represents an opportunity to reach people where they live and to establish a local Christian congregation where disciples can be taught and believers can grow in their faith. His emphasis on discipleship and evangelism is especially encouraging to me because the Great Commission involves more than simply getting people to make a profession of faith. Jesus commanded His followers to make disciples and teach them to observe His commands.
I am grateful that the Lord has allowed Last Call Outreach Ministry to make contact with Pastor Eliud and to learn something about the work being done in western Kenya.
My hope is that the teaching available through Last Call Outreach Ministry can be useful to Pastor Eliud, his congregation, and others he encounters in his evangelistic and discipleship work.
I also hope to learn more about Pastor Eliud’s church and the people he is serving. I believe that when Christians in different parts of the world are willing to encourage one another, share biblical teaching, and pray for one another, the work of the Gospel can reach places and people we may never personally visit.
For now, I am thankful for this connection and for the opportunity to see what God may do through it.
Please pray for Pastor Eliud Wekesa, Bible Way Church in Kitale, and the new church plant in the Chrmichemi community. Pray especially that the Gospel would be clearly preached, that new believers would be discipled in the truth of Scripture, and that this young congregation would become a faithful witness for Jesus Christ in its community.
